Abstract:
Growth and development of Thymus mastichina, Lotus cytisoides, Lavandula stoechas, Centranthus ruber, Limonium sinense, and Limonium pectinatum has been studied in order these species to be used as pot plants for ornamental use.
Three different environments was used: a non heated simple plastic greenhouse, a shading frame and open air.
Measurements as shape, growth rate and flowering percentage in comparison with the climatic data were recorded. Results lead to the determination of the optimum conditions of massive production, in order the specified species to meet the commercial standards for their introduction in local and international markets. Specifically, Thymus mastichina and Centranthus ruber is suggested to be cultivated at the open air while Lotus cytisoides and Limonium sinensis inside the greenhouse and Lavandula stoechas and. Limonium pectinatum under the shading frame
