| Abstract:
Within sub-Saharan Africa the nematodes Radopholus similis and Pratylenchus goodeyi have quite different ecological ranges. R. similis is an alien species of relatively recent introduction to Africa, and appears to remain restricted to regions of lower altitude. P. goodeyi, a native African species, has an Afromontane distribution typical of many groups of organisms within the continent. Our knowledge of the biogeography of these species enables predictions of their possible present, or potential future distributions to be made. This has corresponding implications in considering long-term nematode research and management strategies. | |
