Authors:   A. Nicotra, C. Damiano
Abstract:
The rooting ability of hardwood cuttings of 164 peach and 65 Plum varieties, using the bottom heating was tested. For Peach the cuttings were collected at the end of november and for Plum at the end of december; each variety was treated as following: A) IBA 2000 ppm in hydro-alcoholic solution; B) IBA 2000 ppm in ammonia dissolved; the ammonia after was evapored by nitrogen and the residue was dissolved in water; C) untreated control.

After the treatments the cuttings were put in a peat substratum at 20°C for two months.

Regarding the Peach, 141 varieties showed rooting ability. The best varieties were: Flordahome, Prof. Black, Flordared, Walguant, Baronesa, C 516–347 Fla, W Fla Flordabella.

Regarding the Plum, 38 varieties showed rooting ability. The best varieties were: Late S. Rosa, FK 9–7, Tuleu Dulce, Forli II, Jori's Plum, Morettini 243, Royal de Toors, De Bordeaux, S. Rosa.

Generally for Peach the best results were obtained by the treatment "A" while for Plum by the treatment "B".
