ISHS Acta Horticulturae 538: Eucarpia symposium on Fruit Breeding and Genetics

PROGRESS IN BREEDING RIBES X NIDIGROLARIA JOSTABERRIES ADAPTED TO MECHANICAL HARVESTING

Authors:   A. Bauer, H. Häberli, H. Schimmelpfeng
Keywords:   small fruit, Jostaberries, R. x nidigrolaria hybrids, mechanical harvesting.
Abstract:
50 years of breeding resulted in the creation of Jostaberries, hybrids between black currants and gooseberries. All the advantages of the first cultivated varieties (resistance, high yield, excellent fruit quality) have now been improved by the development of genotypes suitable for mechanical harvest which makes Jostaberry fit for industrial processing.
