Abstract:
Our investigations were done in the apple collection of the PKB orchard „Vocarske plantaze“- Bolec.
In this paper, the results of fruit set and fruit preservation of the apple cultivar ‘Shay´s seedling’ and two hybrids (‘NJ 327246’ and ‘Ida 79’) that are resistant to apple scab are shown.
Pollen of those cultivars and pollen obtained from cultivars ‘Freedom’, ‘Liberty’, ‘Novamac’ and ‘Nova Easygro’ were used for pollination, and open pollination was used as well.
In ‘Shay´s seedling’ the differences between genotypes as pollinizers for fruit set and amount of fruits harvested were very significant.
Two-year average of fruits harvested was 7.31%, when pollinizer was ‘Liberty’, but it was 21.09%, when pollinizer was ‘Novamac’. Self-pollination of ‘Shay´s seedling’ gave 0.64% and open pollination 14.84% fruits harvested.
Very significant differences were obtained in hybrids ‘Ida 79’ and ‘NJ 327246’, too.
