Abstract:
Cultivars, breeding lines and wild species of apple were investigated for their reaction to infestation by spider mites (Tetranychus urticae, Panonychus ulmi) and aphids (Aphis pomi, Dysaphis plantaginea). The lowest attack by both spider mites was observed in ‘Releika’, Pi-AS-13,151 and Pi-AS-1,123. Generally aphid multiplication and plant damages were reduced in all Re-cultivars in comparison to the susceptible standard ‘Gloster’. The highest resistance was found in ‘Reanda’, ‘Rebella’, ‘Resi’ and also in some breeding lines, such as ‘Pi-AS-18,1’. But, up to now, combined pest resistance to spider mites and aphids could not be detected.
