Abstract:
Scab-tolerance segregation of two old Italian apple cultivars was investigated in progenies from controlled crosses using susceptible, tolerant and monogenic resistant cultivars.
A certain level of resistance (30-50%) in the former and over 70% in the latter two was transmitted to its progeny.
The usefulness of the combination of major and minor genes for scab resistance and tolerance is also discussed as a way to increase their durability.
