Abstract:
The breeding programme of apricots for resistance to sharka (Plum Pox Virus, PPV) in the Czech republic includes the verification of the suitability of woody indicators of PPV and comparison of PPV strains.
Cultivars showed abroad as resistant to PPV have been used as parents in crossing since 1981. Tested cultivars and hybrids of apricots were grafted onto young trees of susceptible cultivar ‘Vegama’ artificially infected with Czech isolates of PPV. Apricots resistant to PPV are certified as immune (‘Harlyne’, ‘LE-3276’), resistant (‘Stark Early Orange’, ‘Leronda’, ‘LE-806’, ‘LE-3187’, ‘LE-3662’, ‘LE-2904’, ‘LE-3241’ and ‘LE-2927’), medium resistant (‘Harcot’, ‘Sundrop’, ‘LE-3246’, ‘LE-2926’) and medium susceptible (‘Goldrich’, ‘Dacia’, ‘LE-3247’).
