Abstract:
New selected tomato genotypes were evaluated in unheated high plastic tunnel conditions of Northern Turkey.
This study was conducted to determine the effects of thirty different indeterminate tomato varieties.
The tomato varieties were tested for earliness, early yield and total yield in spring season under Tokat condition, during 1992 growing period.
Seeds were sown under unheated double layer high plastic tunnel.
The seedlings were transplanted under unheated single layer high plastic tunnel.
Significant differences were found for earliness, early yield and total yield.
The highest early yield was obtained from Zeynep Fý, Amfora Fý, FA-144 and Vivia Fý (124.75 t/ha, 124.01 t/ha, 123.52 t/ha and 122.41 t/ha respectively). The highest total yield was obtained from Vivia Fý, Arletta Fý, RS 83209 Fý, FA-144, Vemone Fý, Lucy Fý and Zeynep Fý (291.07 t/ha, 272.29 t/ha, 266.29 t/ha, 256.09 t/ha, 255.34 t/ha, 254.77 t/ha and 252.47 t/ha respectively). Also, In this study, four week earliness was obtained compared to open field growing.
