ISHS Acta Horticulturae 533: VIII International Symposium on Timing Field Production in Vegetable Crops

SUPPRESSIVE FOLIAR FERTILIZERS APPLICATION VERSUS FUNGICIDES TREATMENT OF CUCUMBERS

Authors:   E. Szwonek, A. Felezynska, J. Robak
Keywords:   nutrients, downy mildew
Abstract:
Downy mildew resistant cucumbers cvs. i.e. Parys F1 and Alibi F1 and susceptible cv. Sremski F1 were grown in a field trial. Plants were treated with Ekolist (1995), Mikrorol (1996) or Resistim (1995,1996,1997) which are liquid fertilizers designed for suppressing some fungal diseases. In comparison to those mentioned, Bravo 500 SC blended with Curzate 72.5 WP fungicides were used for downy mildew control. Untreated plants died about two to three weeks after downy mildew first appeared. The vigor and growth of plants sprayed with Resistim or with fungicides appeared to be efficient for regular yielding of cucumbers. Ekolist or Mikrorol were not as effective. The nutrient status of different treated plants was evaluated in order to recognize an influence on the leaves applied with foliar fertilizers.
