Keywords:   soilborne diseases, dazomet, soil solarization, vegetables, integrated control
Abstract:
The effectiveness of dazomet (DZ) applied alone or in combination with a 3 week period of soil solarization against Fusarium and Verticillium wilts and Fusarium crown rot on tomato, Fusarium wilt on basil and Sclerotinia rot on lettuce was evaluated under glasshouse conditions in Northern Italy. The combination of a three week period of soil solarization with half dosage of DZ proved very effective, in the presence of high disease incidence. The use of virtually impermeable plastic film (VIF) permitted to achieve higher temperatures in the case of solarization and improved the efficacy of DZ.
