ISHS Acta Horticulturae 53: IV Africa Symposium on Horticultural Crops

INFECTIVITY OF MELOIDOGYNE INCOGNITA AND ITS CONTROL

Author:   O.B. Hemeng
Abstract:
Cultivars of cucumber and tomato are among the most susceptible vegetables to M. incognita in Ghana. Egg plant cv. Goaso and pepper cv. Kpakpo Shito appear to show slight resistance.

D-D, nemagon and vapam controlled M. incognita attacking tomato cv. Asesewa when compared with burning and mulching as cultural practices.

All treatments except vapam increased yield. However, burning or mulching produced better yield increase than the nematicides. Vapam was persistently phytotoxic, suppressing vegetative growth and decreasing yield.
