Abstract:
An identification and characterization study of different Aglianico genotypes (A. del Vulture, A. di Taurasi, A. Amaro, Aglianico di Napoli, A. di Galluccio) was carried out.
The main purpose of this study was to identify leaf ampelometric and ampelographic features that can make procedures easier and results more effective and to measure the nuclear DNA by Flow Cytometry in order to describe the differences in genome size observed between five Aglianico genotypes.
Application of cluster analysis on ampelographic parameters allowed tree groups: the first consisted of the genotypes A. del Vulture, A. di Taurasi and A. Amaro; the second of A. di Napoli; the third of A. di Galluccio.
Cluster analysis applied to the ampelometric parameters shows only two groups: the first of A. del Vulture, A. di Taurasi and A. Amaro; the second of A. di Napoli and A. di Galluccio.
Five genotypes displayed a characteristic DNA content measured by Flow Cytometry.
The DNA content varied between 0.580 (A. Amaro) and 0.861 (A. del Vulture) pg/nucleus, accounting for a difference of ca. 33%.
