Abstract:
A group of presumed old Vitis vinifera varieties still cultivated in small areas or represented by only a few plants have been recovered in our region with the aim of protecting and exploiting the value of the local genetic resources.
In order to evaluate the genetic diversity of this germplasm and to establish their possible relationships with other more widely grown cultivars, polymorphisms at microsatellite DNA regions were analyzed.
Genotyping revealed numerous cases of synonymy in the old germplasm and cases of identity with cultivated varieties but many alleles were found only in the recovered vines.
Genotypes that can be attributed to interspecific hybrids were also identified.
