Abstract:
‘Vanessa’, a cool-climate, red seedless table grape, has several excellent characteristics but suffers from small berry size and the frequent occurrence of shot berries.
Gibberellic acid sprays at concentrations of 25 and 50 ppm were applied when berry diameters averaged 3-, 5-, 7-, and 9-mm.
All GA applications reduced the incidence of shot berries and increased berry weight.
GA applied at a concentration of 50 ppm when berry diameter averaged 5-mm was most effective for both purposes.
