Abstract:
On 19–21 June 1997, a symposium on “Growth and Development of Fruit Crops” was held at Michigan State University, E. Lansing, Mich., to honor the contributions of Dr.
Martin J. Bukovac to horticulture in Michigan, the United States, and the world at large.
Many of Dr.
Bukovac's former graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, as well as other scientists, with whom he worked, were invited to present papers.
Following the opening session, five sessions were devoted to invited and contributed papers on fruit culture and management, uptake of growth regulators and the effects of adjuvants and surfactants on their absorption and activity, and cultural and hormonal control of growth and development.
In all, more than 50 persons attended and 27 papers were presented, most of which are included in this volume of Acta Horticulturae
