A RESEARCH ON PHENOLOGICAL AND POMOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SOME PLUM CULTIVARS GROWN IN TOKAT ECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS

Authors:   M. Günes, R. Gerçekçioglu, Y. Özkan
Keywords:   Plum, phenological, pomological, characteristics, fruit growth
Abstract:
This study was carried out during 1996–1997 growing seasons to determine the phenological, pomological characteristics and fruit growth of Stanley, R.C. Violette, R.C. Dalthan, R.C. Verte, Giant and President plum cultivars grown in Tokat ecological conditions. The flowering of cultivars generally occured between the beginning and the end of April in both years and the fruits were harvested between the middle and the end of August. Some pomological characteristics of cultivars were found as below (average of two years); fruit diameters were between 35.81 mm (R.C. Verte) and 42.39 mm (President), fruit weights were between 28.19 g (R.C. Verte) and 53.26 g (President) and soluble solids were between 10.48% (Giant) and 21.22% (R.C. Verte).
