Abstract:
A spray application of gibberellin A4/A7 (10–20 ppm and 10 to 40 ppm) at fully swollen flower bud stage during the last week of April increased per cent fruit set and retention.
Fruit size, weight and pulp weight were highest with the application of gibberellinA4/A7 (20 ppm). Exogenous application of gibberellinA4/A7 (5 and 10 ppm) increased TSS, TSS/acid ratio and total sugar content of the fruit.
The treatments of 50 per cent flower or cyme thinning followed by spray application of gibberellinA4/A7 (20 ppm) significantly increased fruit weight and size, TSS/acid ratio and total fruit sugars.
GibberellinA4/A7 treatments did not affect return bloom.
Considering all aspects of fruit quality, the treatment of 50 per cent flower thinning followed by 20 ppm GA4/A7 proved best.
