EFFECT OF (2RS, 3RS) PACLOBUTRAZOL ON TREE VIGOUR, FLOWERING, FRUIT SET AND YIELD IN MANGO

Author:   Z. Singh
Abstract:
The foliar spray and soil drench application of Cultar at zero, 10, 20, 40 and 60 g/tree to mango (Mangifera indica L.) cv. Dusheri prior to flower bud differentiation during the first week of October affected vegetative growth, tree size, flowering, fruit set and yield. Soil application of Cultar was more effective than foliar application in reducing shoot length, tree height and spread. Soil application of Cultar promoted flowering, along with cauliflory and axillary flowering. The panicle size was reduced with the application of Cultar whereas the percentage of hermaphrodite flowers, fruit set and yield was increased. Soil drench application of Cultar (20–40 g/tree) was the best treatment to reduce the tree vigour, promote flowering, fruit set and yield in Dusheri.
