Abstract:
In trials conducted in 1997 and 1998 in pear orchards of the ‘Oeste’ region of Portugal, two kinds of ‘delta’, pheromone traps were tested for monitoring the codling moth (Cydia pomonella L.). The traps used were the ‘Super Track’ (Serbios, Italy) and the ‘Delta Trap’ (Agrisense-BCS Limited UK).
For the evaluation of trap performance total captures and weekly captures were considered.
The results indicated that total codling moth male captures, in the ‘Super Track’ trap were significantly higher (Duncan's test -P= ≤ 0.05), both at high or low population levels than in the ‘Delta Trap’. Concerning the weekly codling moth captures, there were important differences between the two traps, especially in the first three weeks.
