ISHS Acta Horticulturae 525: International Conference on Integrated Fruit Production

SESSION G: NEW PLANT PROTECTION TOOLS FOR USE IN INTEGRATED FRUIT PRODUCTION

Author:   Dr. Friedrich Polesny
Abstract:
1.1 Chemophysical techniques: The structural properties of leafs can be influenced by toxicological and ecological save substances in such a way that different pests, diseases as well as arthropods cannot invade the leaf surface anymore. At the same time it is possible, that even beneficials (fungi and arthropods) are effected by such techniques and at the end there are trees without any living organism on it.

1.2 Integrated progress in key pests: New techniques, especially in the field of scab control, brought about improvements in IFP. Further investigations are still necessary.

1.3 “Secondary” pests: In addition to the permanent pressure of key pests there is a big group of arthropods, which get important pests sometimes in different regions, but often some season the importance is decreasing again. This permanent up and down of the importance of secondary pests is influenced by a lot of factors e.g. weather conditions, varieties, production methods and is not a specific result of IFP.
