Abstract:
Long before the advent of integrated crop management (ICM) and integrated pest management (IPM) fruit growers had already adopted a holistic approach to production.
Crop protection products (CPPs) are an indispensable and integral part of the production of high-quality fruit.
Fruit growers are fully aware of their responsibilities to users, consumers and the environment and they act accordingly.
The crop protection industry and fruit growers share a number of concerns: risk minimisation, sustainable development through ICM and IPM, and food safety.
This paper focuses on risk minimisation and the agrochemical industry's contribution to modern crop protection, within the European political context.
