Abstract:
One hundred and ninety five grape genotypes kept in collection in the Instituto Agronômico Experimental Station, at Jundiaí, Brazil, were evaluated for agronomic and phenological traits. Niagara Rosada, the main table grape cultivar in São Paulo, was used as standard for comparisons concerning vegetative cycles, from pruning to harvest, expressed in days and degree-days, in 1991 and 1993. For agronomic evaluation, emphasis was given to traits relevant for table grapes, such as cluster and berry size and weight, cluster shape and compactness, berry color, shape and flavor, soluble solid contents and pH. The survey showed the existence of very early genotypes, with cycles of about 120 days (or 1200 degree-days, base temperature: 12°C) and very late ones, with 180 days cycles (or little more than 1800 degree-days) showing a large variability in this character. Sixteen genotypes showed potential as alternative to substitute Niagara Rosada cultivar: Beauty Seedless, Flame Seedless and 'Paulistinha', with very short cycle and seedless; Ruby Seedless, with long cycle and seedless; IAC 503–25, with short cycle and seedless; Traviú, Fada and IAC 407–26, with very short cycle and seeded; Lígia, IAC 274–16, Bicane, Niabell and J. 7602–44, with short cycle and seeded; Patrícia, with long cycle and seeded; IAC 871–18 and Highland, with very long cycle and seeded.
