Abstract:
The climatic conditions of the peruvian coast make it possible to grow this crop the year around in most valleys.
The usual limitations of temperature and/or rain cannot be considered as criteria for planning crops and planting dates.
Most of the tomato production is carried on in this type of valleys which runs perpendicular to the Pacific Ocean.
Two levels of planning have to be considered: the watershed or valley and the agricultural unit.
In the present case the Huaura river valley is taken and a unit within this valley considered for describing purposes (figure 1).
