| Abstract:
The collection, evaluation, and conservation of genetic resources and their use for breeders and growers is the main objective for IIPGR, Sadovo, Bulgaria. The collection of melons at Sadovo includes local Bulgarian populations, as well as breeding lines, cultivars and hybrids from various countries. A sample of 100 local and introduced melon accessions has been characterized for horticulturally important traits such as earliness, flavor, yield, and adaptation to shipping. A database for 38 characters has been made to assist melon breeders. | |
