INTERRELATIONS AMONG FRUIT AND SEED CHARACTERISTICS OF OIL PUMPKIN

Authors:   J. Berenji, D. Papp
Keywords:   Cucurbita pepo, fruit, seed, oil content
Abstract:
The results obtained by analysis of individual fruits of the open-pollinated hull-seeded oil pumpkin ‘Olivia’ suggest that fruit weight, seed weight per fruit, seed mass, and seed oil content could be changed and combined as required due to weak correlations among these characteristics. The fresh seed weight per fruit is a reliable estimator of the dry seed weight per fruit. The most important component of seed weight per fruit was seed number per fruit.
