Abstract:
For establishing the presence of races of downy mildew on cucumbers, plants at the 2- to 3-leaf stage were artificially inoculated and fruit-bearing plants were naturally infected.
On the basis of differentials, the results revealed the existence of two races of Pseudoperonospora cubensis, race 1 and race 2. PI 179676, PI 197085, PI 197086, PI 197088, and ‘Natsufushinary’ were highly resistant, ‘Poinsett’ and ‘Ashley’ were moderately resistant, and ‘Gergana’ was susceptible to race 1. PI 179676, PI 197086, and PI 197088 were highly resistant and PI 197085, ‘Natsufushinary’, ‘Poinsett’, ‘Ashley’, and ‘Gergana’ were susceptible to race 2.
