| Abstract:
The development of gene transfer techniques in Rubus and Ribes offers the possibility of making specific improvements to cultivars and breeding material in a shorter timescale than is possible through plant breeding. The ability to transfer genes depends on the availability of whole plant regeneration systems. This paper reviews developments in this area to date and discusses some of the prospects and problems facing the technology. | |
