Abstract:
In vitro regeneration of Minthostachys andina (Brett.) Epling explants was achieved on different media using hypocotyl and leaf sections as primary explants.
Multiple shoot proliferation and calli were obtained in both types of explants using NN-medium supplemented with TDZ (2.27–18.16 μM) or BA (4.44 μM) in combination with IAA (0.11 μM or 0.86 μM) and, TDZ (11.35 μM) with IBA (2.46 μM), respectively.
Roots were induced directly or by subculturing the new shoots on a similar medium, in presence of NAA (2.7 μM) or IBA (9.8 μM). Cell suspensions, originated from hypocotyl calli were suitable to develop proembryoid structures.
Proembryoids were obtained from cells suspensions maintained for 10 days induction in WPM-medium with 2,4-D (0.45 μM) and BA (1.78 μM) and then subcultured for 3 months in the same medium without growth regulators.
