Abstract:
Plant species belonging to the Solanaceae family were studied using the Artemia salina bioassay.
Ethanolic extracts of Cestrum parqui, Nierembergia aristata, N. hippomanica, N. stricta, Physalis viscosa, Solanum chacoense, S. eleagnifolium, S. glaucophylum, S. incisum, S. stukerti (aerial parts) and Salpichroa origanifolia (fruits and leaves) were analysed.
The active plant extracts, the LC50 and the 95 % confidence intervals (μg/mL) obtained were: Nierembergia aristata: 250 (1558–102), N. stricta: 84 (354–380); N. hippomanica: 163 (304–91); Solanum chacoense: 230 (359–154); Salpichroa origanifolia (fruits): 330 (534–203) and S. origanifolia (leaves): 75 (112–49).
