Authors:   H. Rejeb, T. Bettaieb, R. Krichen, T. Tissaoui
Keywords:   street trees, physiological weakening, Tunisian cities
Abstract:
The life conditions of trees in urban and sub urban zones has to be studied if it is wanted to preserve this patrimony. In fact, the tree potential is subject to numerous constraints linked to biotic and abiotic stress.

In the cities, trees live in on artificial environment very different of their ecosystem. They face numerous and complex aggressions subdued to more unfavorable life conditions.

This study present a brief analysis of the actual state of street trees in the main Tunisian cities and a diagnostic of the main physiological weakening causes of some street trees (premature aging). Some problems linked to the growth deficiency (vigor shortage, poor branching, bud necrosis, ….) and/or the sexuality have been presented for some street trees.
