ISHS Acta Horticulturae 496: International Symposium on Urban Tree Health

MAIN CRYPTOGAMIC DISORDERS OF URBAN TREES. EXAMPLE OF THE PLANE TREE WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON CANKER STAIN.

Author:   A. Vigouroux
Keywords:   Fungi, Apignomonia, oidium, polyporus, ceratocystis
Abstract:
The cryptogamic disorders that affect urban trees are closely related to urban conditions. With the plane tree, the main foliar diseases are anthracnosis and oidium. Trunk and scaffold branches are affected by wood decay fungi and canker stain. The latter can be transmitted in several ways, either naturally (root grafting or running water) or by man (horticultural tools or earth-moving machines). Prophylaxis is the only method of control. Breeding of tolerant clones is underway.
