| Abstract:
In the Cuneo Province (Piedmont Region, north-western Italy) mountainous areas cover 65% of its total surface of 558,000 ha. Chestnut grove covers more than 24,000 hectares (14.3 % of the forest area of the Province). Even if the production of nuts and wood is still important, today much attention is focused on the landscape, strictly tied to the leasure activity. The paper is a review of the studies carried on in the Cuneo Province to appreciate the landscape value of chestnut. | |
