ISHS Acta Horticulturae 494: II International Symposium on Chestnut

EFFECT OF SXC* ON RESPIRATORY RATE, PHOTOSYNTHESIS AND CHLOROPHYLL CONTENT OF CHINESE CHESTNUT LEAVES

Authors:   Z. Zhao, K. Liu
Keywords:   Chinese chestnut, respiratory rate, photosynthesis, chlorophyll content, water potential, leaves
Abstract:
By thinning catkin, chestnut yield can be increased. But thinning catkins manually is very difficult. It is convenient, economically and easier for farmers, to learn to spray SXC* (ShuXongCun). This paper reports the effect of SXC* on the respiratory rate, photosynthetic rate, chlorophyll content and water potentials of Chinese chestnut leaves, which provided the basis for application of SXC*. The results showed that SXC* not only affected catkins, but also promoted the photosynthetic capacity, lowered the respiratory rate and increased the chlorophyll content. The effect of SXC on water potential of leaves was not significant.
