STUDIES ON CUMULATIVE TOMATO YIELD FOR FRESH MARKET: DISCRIMINATION OF DIFFERENT CULTIVARS

Authors:   V. Miccolis, M. Monteleone, V. Candido
Keywords:   Discriminant analysis, canonical discriminant functions, Mahalanobis distances, ripening process parameters, clustering
Abstract:
A classification and characterization of several tomato cultivars was performed with reference to the pattern of fruit cumulative yield over time, as suitably interpreted by coefficients and other meaningful derived parameters of an empirical function. A discriminant analysis procedure allowed the allocation of each cultivar to a certain group whereas a canonical discriminant function analysis was employed to identify the distinctive features of each group of cultivar.
