Abstract:
A study of factors influencing germination of Cola acuminata nuts showed that percentage germination and speed of germination rose with increase in nut size and increase in number of cotyledons.
Nuts sown with the radicle facing upwards gave higher germination than those sown in other positions.
Cotyledon tip removal and cotyledon parting before sowing had only a transient effect on germination.
