ISHS Acta Horticulturae 49: III Africa Symposium on Horticultural Crops

SEASONAL CHANGES IN GRAPEFRUIT HARVESTED FROM THREE DIFFERENT REGIONS OF GREECE

Authors:   G. Karaoulanis, N. Margaris
Abstract:
The grapefruits to be analysed came from 3 different regions of Peloponnesos, the southermost part of Greece.

The harvest started in December (1972) and was repeated monthly until April (1973).

Results of the chemical analyses indicated:

As the fruits ripened there was a marked increase of the soluble solids and of pH, also an increase in proteins, total amino-acids and total sugars. Acidity decreased.

These differences were statistically significant, except for acidity and pH (see Table 2).
