Authors:   B. Cvjetkovic, E. Halupecki, J. Špoljaric
Keywords:   Erwinia amylovora, forecasting, identification, Croatia, bactericides
Abstract:
The Fire Blight was for the first time observed in Croatia in 1995. Today it has spread to the eastern part of Croatia. Following its appearance all quarantine measures were undertaken. The trees began to be eradicated. Until 1998 in Croatia we had the possibility to indemnify 199 432 apple trees, 142 479 pear trees, 148 quince trees and 152 medlar trees. Far more trees were eradicated and burned, but the disease was still present in eastern parts of Croatia. The efficacy of the following bactericides was tested on infections of the flower: flumequine (Firestop), streptomycin sulphate, copper hydroxide (Champ F-2) and fosetil-aluminium (Aliette). Among the tested bactericides, Firestop proved the most efficient followed in descending order by Champ F-2 and streptomycin sulphate. Based on BIS and MARYBLYT4.3. in 1997 the occurrence of the blossom blight symptoms was monitored.
