Abstract:
A molecular diagnostic technique (PCR-ELISA) for the automated detection of Erwinia amylovora, based on the immunoenzymatic determination of PCR products, was developed.
The specificity of the assay was tested using E. amylovora strains from different host plants and geographic origins and other plant-associated bacteria.
Due to its sensitivity and specificity, the proposed chemiluminescent PCR-ELISA protocol was shown to be suitable for the detection of the pathogen in naturally infected plant organs.
The results were compared to those obtained in standard PCR assays with electrophoretic separation of amplicons (PCR-AGE).
