ISHS Acta Horticulturae 488: XI International Symposium on Apricot Culture

STUDYING OF SOME FACTORS FOR AN INTENSIFICATION OF APRICOT PRODUCTION

Authors:   P.M. Marinov, M.D. Chokoeva
Keywords:   Silistra, variety, fertilization, irrigation, planting density, rootstock
Abstract:
The experimental work was carried out in a period of three years at the Apricot Experimental Station Silistra.

The data of a polyfactor experiment, involving the factors variety, fertilization, irrigation and planting density at the basis of the moderately growing rootstock Green Gage CD - 4 are discussed in the paper.

The growth of the trees was only affected by the factors variety and density of planting. The varieties Hungarian best, Festivalna and Early orange, planted at 4.0/ 4.0 m and 4.0/ 3.0 m proved to be of a faster growth.

The examined factors affected the productivity to a different degree. The irrigation enhanced the total yield from 16.4 to 29.9 % at the background of various fertilization levels. Highest yields resulted from the fertilization with nitrogen (400 kg/ ha).

The technology of intensive apricot cultivation involves the varieties Hungarian best, Festivalna, Drianovska kasna and Early orange, planted at 4.0/4.0 m or 4.0/3.0 m, irrigated at the level of 100 % ET and fertilized every year with nitrogen (400 kg/ha).
