Abstract:
The researches carried out during 6 years at the Fruit Research Station Constanta, Romania, studied the behaviour of seed-mothers and in the nursery of 10 genotypes selected from wild and cultivated tree flora with the view of using them as rootstocks for apricot tree.
Following these studies it was concluded that selected genotypes were proven to be good like seed-mothers presenting small fruits and seeds, a high seed germination rate (over 59%) and good seedling standard yields (333,800–465,800). In the maiden tree fields all rootstocks had a good grafting success (88–97%) and a different tree vigour depending on rootstock, cultivar and ecological conditions of the year.
The highest yields of the standard trees/ha were obtained on the rootstocks: Goldcot, Haggith, Dothy, Constanta 14, Goldbeck Perfection and Constanta 16 grafted with Umberto cv.
