ISHS Acta Horticulturae 488: XI International Symposium on Apricot Culture

APRICOT BREEDING IN AUSTRALIA

Author:   J. M. Witherspoon
Abstract:
The apricot breeding program in Australia is aimed at producing apricot varieties for the dried fruit industry. The main varieties currently grown for drying have come about through the selection of chance seedlings in orchards within Australia and they have been grown well for over seventy years. New lines will be selected by the present breeding program to replace these older varieties.
