Abstract:
Two new apricot cultivars issued from the French breeding program have been recently selected, published and are commercialized under the agreement of the UPOV rights.
They are dedicated to the French southern area of apricot production named “Roussillon”. The first one is an early maturing cultivar which ripens near “Goldrich”. It looks like “Goldrich” with a light orange colour, and large fruits.
It is well adapted, self-fertile without necrosis on the fruits.
The second one belongs to the Rouge du Roussillon's type of cultivars.
It is a late maturing cultivar which ripens at the same time than “Rouge du Roussillon” A157. The overall characteristics are closed to “Rouge du Roussillon” but the fruits are larger, the taste is excellent, the firmness is good and the production is high.
