Abstract:
The 6th ISHS International Symposium on the Production of Processing Tomatoes and the Fertigation Workshop were organised within the 3rd Worldwide Congress on the Processing Tomato with the aim:
- of presenting recent research results regarding production, culture and quality of processing tomatoes
- of providing an opportunity for the exchange of information between horriculturists, agronomists, plant pathologists, entomologists, agricultural engineers, biotechnologists, extension specialists and general managers of private and cooperative processing industries.
The participants heard 55 oral and 39 poster presentations in the following sessions:
Symposium:
- Session 1: Physiology and molecular biology of the tomato
- Session 2: Crop management, disease control, harvest and transport
- Session 3: Genetics and breeding of processing tomatoes
- Session 4: Processing technology for tomato products.
Relation between physical. structural and biological activity
Fertigation Workshop:
- Session 1: Irrigation systems and irrigation scheduling
- Session 2: Irrigation, Fertigation, Water Quality and Crop Response
These events took place in the ancient "Ciudadela" of Pamplona, a magnificent setting chosen by the Spanish organisers AGRUCON. The indubitable success of this event was due to their efforts, and also to the sponsors, the members of the scientific committee, the invited speakers, the valuable chairmen of the sessions, the scientists for the clear and learned discussions on the papers.
