Abstract:
The distribution of the genus Phoenix in Gran Canaria is not sufficiently known.
Usually, only the most outstanding units are mentioned, not taking into account the presence of isolated specimens that are dispersed, and the units of scarce significance.
In this paper we have studied the distribution, composition, structure and dynamics of the communities of more than 25 trees, and we have made a map of the distribution of the genus in which four categories are established: groups of more than 25 trees with a cover superior to 50%, groups of more than 25 trees with a cover inferior to 50%, groups of less than 25 trees and disperse palm trees.
