Abstract:
An outline map of cherry isoenzyme markers developed at East Malling using an interspecific progeny between Prunus avium ‘Napoleon’ x P. nipponica is being extended with RAPD and RFLP markers.
To develop molecular markers for cherry breeding, three progenies of P. avium (two sweet and one wild) have been scored for a set of isoenzyme systems and agronomic traits.
Molecular markers have been identified for three agronomic traits, albinism, dwarfism and incompatibility.
