ISHS Acta Horticulturae 482: International Symposium on Cut Flowers in the Tropics

BASIS FOR GROWTH SIMULATION IN GYPSOPHILA PANICULATA, INCLUDING EFFECTS OF PHOTOPERIOD AND VERNALIZATION

Authors:   M. Orozco de Amézquita, R. Cure, F. Cantor, J. Bernard
Keywords:   Cut flowers, greenhouse, development
Abstract:
The reproductive and vegetative growth of Gypsophila paniculata was interpreted using photoperiod and vernalization under greenhouse conditions. The number of nodes and ramifications, flowering time, distribution of dry matter per organ, maximum stem and root lengths, time (in physiological development units, degrees day: g.d.), and environmental variables were evaluated every week. All plants have reached the same physiological age; flower inducement was more effective after 45 days of vernalization and 16 h/day of photoperiod over 70 days.
