EFFECT OF TWO TRICHODERMA SPP. ISOLATES ON FUSARIUM OXYSPORUM F. SP.DIANTHI IN CARNATION (DIANTHUS CARYOPHYLLUS)

Authors:   P.G. García, A.M. Pascuas, E. Garcés de Granada
Keywords:   Biocontrol, greenhouse, vascular wilt
Abstract:
We assessed the effects of the two Trichoderma sp. isolates, T17 and T18, both separately and as a mixture, on Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. dianthi in a standard carnation cultivar. On inoculation of isolate T17, the disease occurred less frequently (79 %) and with less severity (44 %) than in the control. There were 125 cfu of the pathogen per gram of soil before the antagonists were applied; three months later there were 5700 cfu/g in T17, 4325 cfu/g in the mixture (T17 and T18), and 2637 cfu/g in T18. However, eight months later, 1255 cfu/g were found in T17 and in the mixture.
