| Abstract:
It is a pleasure for the organizing committee of the International Symposium on Cut Flowers in the Tropics, held in Bogota in October 1997, to present in this volume of ACTA HORTICULTURAE the invited and contributed papers of the Symposium, those presented orally as well as those presented as posters. Let us express our sincere gratitude to the National University of Colombia and its Agronomy School for having included this Symposium among the most significant events of 1997. We extend our thanks particularly to ACOPAFLOR and its manager Mr. Nestor Raúl Gómez, for the significant efforts during the organization of this event. Many thanks are due to ASOCOLFLORES for a mayor financial support, to the Scientific Committee and the Chairmen and vice-chairmen for the exceptional work during the Symposium, and for reviewing the manuscripts. A special appreciation is expressed to all the students and to our assistant Rubén Cruz, who contributed with their hard work and dedication to the success of this event. The contributed papers accepted for publication by the scientific committee may have minor errors and be written in a not always superb English.
One should bear in mind, however, that the purpose of this publication is to present what was discussed at the Symposium.
We regret that a few, probably excellent works, could not be published, due to the great difficulties for the scientific committee in making sense out of the text. | |
