Abstract:
In this study, the fruit maturity times and the growth of the Bursa Siyahi fig cultivar that plays a major role in the fresh fig export of Turkey, were investigated.
Moreover, some quality properties of the mature fruits harvested at different times during maturation were determined.
The diameter measurements of the fruit on every node of the shoots were determined periodically from August 15 to October 18 in fig orchards in the village of Dürdane where fig is widely grown.
Mature fruits were harvested at 2-week intervals and the quality was evaluated.
As a result, maturation dates of fruits at the first, second and higher nodes were observed on September 5–13, September 20, October 4 and October 4–18 respectively.
The highest rate of total soluble solids was determined in fruits harvested on September 20.
